Are you a Nigerian praying and wishing to study abroad someday through a fully funded scholarship? Here is a good news for you! The Federal Government Scholarship (BEA) is an opportunity to get your dream of studying abroad fulfilled. They have called for eligible candidates to submit their applications.

This year 2022, they have sent good number of students from Nigeria to various countries for studies.

The Federal Government Scholarship (Bilateral Education Agreement) is a fully funded scholarship scheme by the Federal Republic of Nigeria which is tenable to countries like Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt, Venezuela.

It is under the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) – meaning an agreement made by the Federal Republic of Nigeria with other countries to allow selected candidates from Nigeria to study in those countries for free. So, it is a dual or two-country scholarship. The scholarship is for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Note that the BEA scholarship is quite different from the National Award Scholarship that is usually awarded to undergraduates studying in any government university across the country.

 Important Tips:

Before you proceed to submit your application, pay attention to these tips if you really want to gain the Federal Government Scholarship. I’m confident that these tips below if abided to would help to increase your chances. The scholarship is very competitive and I wish you good luck.

Early Application: Apply as early as possible. While people could argue that early application submission does not increase your chances of gaining the scholarship, I can also say it does. The board might begin early to select candidates. Other things like website breakdown due to surge, etc can reduce your chances of submitting your application. Submit as soon as your documents are complete.

Obedience to Instructions: During application, there are certain instructions given by the Federal Scholarship Board regarding submitting applications and the documents to upload such as LGA of Origin Letter, WASSCE, birth certificate, etc. Ensure to upload and fill this information appropriately and accurately. Falsification of details can lead to denial of award.

Obeying instructions does not end during your application, it continues if selected.

Choice of Country: During application you’d be asked to select two countries – first & second choice you wish to study. The most important country is your first choice. You are going to see options like Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Algeria, Egypt, Venezuela, etc. RUSSIA has been the most consistent in keeping the scholarship terms. Morocco and even Hungary is also good but not compared to Russia. Good luck! Do whatever you wish with that.

Use Accessible Contact Details: Ensure that the email and phone number you’d be using to register for the scholarship belongs to you and can be accessed without much stress. If you do not have a phone number yet, I’d advise that you get one for yourself and open an email account with it because if you are selected, you’d need your email to send lots of required documents across.

Get Comfortable Using Your Email: Learn how to send and receive mails via email. Also learn how to check the spam folder. This will also help you follow up the directives of the board if you get selected.
